To keep my !Brain and Body functioning well, I think I need to treat myself as a Sim.
One of ADHD's symptoms is commonly limited interoception - limited awareness of what's going on internally. Plus, there are challenges with executive function (What Is Executive Function - 7 Deficits Tied to ADHD). So when I do figure out what's going on, then it's almost meltdown levels immediately. Roy says there's no warning haha.
One thing that helps Sims is that they (or the player) can see the state of their needs at any given moment. They are also aware of and actively state when they need something (and then try to do something about it)
If I have limited awareness of what's going on in my own body, then I need to create touchpoints to bring my needs to the forefront. For example, (4A1C1) Surprise pee circumvents toddler surety. Yes, that's funny but also relevant. Sometimes taking a moment to stop and think "Am I hungry? Thirsty? Tired? Something else?" is enough of a trigger to identify my current state.
If I go back to the Sims metaphor, in-game Sims would stop and cry when their Hunger needs gets too high and they can't make a sandwich because of something blocking their path. I should also try and look at what's stopping me and make it work (eg mitigate dysfunction)
Therefore, I need to externalise identifying what my needs are then take steps to improve my moodlets for increased wellbeing.
One challenge I face is that even if I get to the point that I've identified a need, I either can't get myself to move onto that task or actively choose not to help myself because I'm in the middle of something. Executive Dysfunction strikes again!
So one aspect of managing that is working on strategies to improve my Executive Function. The other aspect is to lean into the tenet of (2A1B2) Care For Yourself = again like a sim (moodlets and shit) and another thing Sims do well is try to (2A1) Honour Your Desires
The other aspect is to realise that (2A1B1) Life Is A Game, and I should be organising it accordingly.
Related: Gamify life = Sims is literally a game, also Sims is fun, make life fun Habitica = a means to do this Finch = need to take care of myself,
Enneagram 7 = idk this is the one about looking for happiness and excitement and avoiding pain; Sims as far as I remember are able to push past any fears ??? concerns ?? literally will study for 8 hours straight if certain conditions are met
